THE SCHOOL HOUSE B&B REPORT

Summer 2018

Introduction

We'd like to let you know a little of what has been going on at The School House B&B and around us in Shropshire.  Although the pace of life is a lot slower than in many cities and towns there is always something happening.

Summer Days Out

Wild Ponies and Heather

It won't be long before the bright purple of heather can be seen around some of the Shropshire Hills. August is one of the best months to see the wild ponies on the Long Mynd near Church Stretton as they wander through the heather.

National Trust Gardens

The sunshine and dry weather has not prevented the local National Trust properties such as Croft Castle and Berrington Hall producing great displays in their gardens. Whilst some of us have lawns looking browner than green the display gardens still have colour.

Ludlow Food Festival

In September Ludlow celebrates food in a big way. The weekend of 7th, 8th & 9th is when the main food festival takes place in the beautiful grounds of the castle and around the town.

The festival is when many independent food and drink producers from around Shropshire and The Marches show off their wares alongside the workshops, demonstrations and music.

Shropshire Hills AONB

Sixty years ago, the hills, rolling farmland, woods and river valleys of our varied and special landscape was one of the first areas to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Off the beaten track and tranquil, this is a living, working place, loved by locals and visitors alike for its quality of environment for walking and activities, relaxation and inspiration.

Molly - Our B&B Dog

The main change at The School House this year has been the arrival of Molly, our Collie / chocolate Labrador puppy.

Molly moved from one side of Bucknell where she was born at Darky Dale Riding Stables to our house on the other side of Bucknell in early May.  Since then she has settled in very well to B&B life.

We try to take her out early every morning and spend some time with her before she then goes into the boot room and her crate while we serve breakfast to guests.  She is very happy in her crate and treats it as her 'special place'.

Molly has made several special friends including Saffy, a German Shepherd / Rough Collie, who lives at a nearby B&B and Bumble a Cockapoo who lives in Bucknell.

As well as loving other dogs Molly has also loved meeting many of our guests who often make a fuss over her.

Shropshire

Are you one of the many guests who wished they could have stayed with us for longer than they did? So many people say they were unaware of what Shropshire has to offer before they came.

Our quiet corner of England has beautiful countryside, historic buildings with feature gardens and small towns with their specialist shops, many of which feature food and drink.

What we don't have much of are large crowds and traffic congestion.

At The School House we have comfy rooms for you to relax in and breakfasts with lots of home-made goodies for you to enjoy.

After your day out, if you don't want to go out for dinner we can prepare a bedroom picnic for you, or you can bring some tasty treats in.
