AA Covid Confident by Rated Trips

The School House B&B response to the situation regarding COVID-19

We have been awarded the official Visit England 'Good to Go' Industry Standard, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) 'Safe Travels' stamp and the AA's 'COVID-19 Confident' certification, which means that we have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, we have a Risk Assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing. There will of course be a few differences, but as always we want you to enjoy a relaxing stay with us so we will be keeping things as normal as we possibly can. We are fortunate that we’re in a quiet part of a sparsely-populated county and the virus has not affected us as much as many people.

If you are concerned about an existing booking, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01547 530836 or email hello@theschoolhousebandb.co.uk.

Deciding whether to book a stay

If you are undecided as to whether to book a stay with us, we hope that these notes will help:

  • It is possible to stay at The School House without coming into contact with other guests. The three guest rooms are in separate areas of the house and our downstairs Redlake room has its own private entrance.

  • If ordered in advance, we are able to offer ‘bedroom picnics’ for you to enjoy in the evening if you would prefer not to eat out.

  • More space has been made in the breakfast room so that our new ‘normal’ configuration has a two-metre distance between tables.

  • We will endeavour to stagger breakfast times to enable better social distancing.

  • If you would prefer to have a cold breakfast in your room we can arrange that for you.

  • All surfaces and touchpoints will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after each stay. The breakfast room and general areas of the house will continue to be cleaned daily to at least the required standards.

  • Hand sanitiser will be available for guest use in the hall and breakfast room.

  • We will inform you immediately if either of us has had to self-isolate within 2 weeks of your arrival date.

  • We are asking all guests to contact us up to two weeks after your stay if you have had to self-isolate so that we can manage communications to anyone who has a future booking.

  • To facilitate contact tracing, we will ask all guests to complete the guest registration form on arrival and we will retain your contact details on our booking database.

During your stay

  • If you need assistance with luggage please let us know on arrival and we will help you with it in a safe way.

  • We have revised our breakfast offering as follows, so please note that it may take a little longer than usual:

    • We will only set tables as you arrive for breakfast.

    • Breakfast buffet items e.g. cereals and yoghurt will be provided as individual portions and served to your table.

    • Milk, juice, jams and condiments will be served in individual containers on your table.

  • We would ask that you remain flexible regarding housekeeping – we will replace dirty cups etc… and remove rubbish, but we will only service your room if you want us to (we will check with you at breakfast).

  • We have plentiful supplies of soap and handwash, however if you would prefer to use antibacterial hand gel then please bring some with you.

  • We will wear masks during breakfast service and if we have to go into your room during your stay (to collect rubbish etc...). We ask that you wear a face covering in communal areas (except when eating or drinking) in line with government guidance.

  • It may be necessary to make a late change of room for your stay if we are required to close a room for a period of time.

After your stay

Our only request after you leave is that you let us know immediately if you have to self-isolate within 2 weeks of leaving. This will enable us to manage communications with contact tracers.

Cancellation and Curtailment

Although we will still take a deposit at the time of booking, we aim to be as flexible as possible should you need to cancel your stay. You will not be charged for cancelling. Please refer to our Guest Information page for details of our current cancellation policy.

If you come and stay with us but decide to cut your stay short due to coronavirus concerns, we will take payment for the period that you have stayed plus a small charge for costs already incurred as a direct result of your arrival (i.e. breakfast costs). We will not charge you the full nightly rate for nights on which you have not stayed.

As per our standard Terms and Conditions, we always advise that you take out travel insurance if you are concerned that you may need to cancel.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to give us a call on 01547 530836.
