Locally Sourced Food

Your breakfast will contain as much local produce as we can source, and we ensure that everything is fresh and seasonal. There will be a selection of hot and cold options for you featuring homemade bread and cereals.

We can recommend plenty of fabulous pubs just a short drive away with good local food. If you prefer not to eat out, then why not try a ‘bedroom picnic’ – a selection of savoury and sweet goodies for you to enjoy in the comfort of your own room. You’re welcome to bring your own drink and we provide glasses and bottle openers on your welcome tray.

When you book, please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements so that we can source any particular ingredients before your stay.

Dog Friendly B&B

You’re welcome to bring one well-behaved dog with you if you book the Redlake room. The Redlake room is on the ground floor and has plenty of space for your dog crate or basket. With this room you have your own private entrance. We can recommend walks either from the house or further away.  We may even see you when we're walking Molly, our Collie / Lab cross.

About Us

During 2015 we decided to make the move away from Surrey and a corporate lifestyle. After having spent several holidays in Shropshire we decided that it was the place for us.

We fell in love with The School House because of its location in the peaceful countryside of The Shropshire Hills. It offers us the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors without great crowds.

The proximity to Ludlow was important to us as we knew it was a place to enjoy good quality food and where we could source ingredients for a great breakfast.

We love to meet new people and let them know all about Shropshire and The Shropshire Hills giving them a memorable stay at The School House B&B.

How Not to Get Lost

BY CAR: Chapel Lawn is on the road between Bucknell and the A488 at New Invention. It is the only hamlet along this road. Once in Chapel Lawn you will find us on the main throroughfare near the church.

The best way not to get lost is to check our location on a map as some sat navs will send you along narrow roads. If you're using sat nav, make sure you key 'School House' into it as well as the postcode (SY7 0BW).

The map on the right shows our recommended routes in YELLOW and some routes to avoid in RED.

If using the what3words app, our front gate location is ///orchids.consented.lecturing.

BY TRAIN: The nearest railway station is in Bucknell. Craven Arms station has more frequent trains. We can let you have taxi numbers if you intend to arrive by train.
